BACKFLOW TESTING EXPLAINED

WHAT IS BACKFLOW TESTING?

A straightforward look at why assemblies are tested, what the appointment involves, and what happens after the test.

Protecting the water supply

Backflow is an unintended reversal of water flow. A backflow prevention assembly is installed to help keep water from flowing backward into the public or private drinking-water system.

Testing checks whether the assembly’s internal components respond as required. The test does not involve analyzing the water itself; it evaluates the mechanical operation of the installed assembly.

What happens during a test?

  1. Identify the assembly.We confirm the assembly type, manufacturer, model, size, serial number, and location when available.
  2. Connect calibrated equipment.A certified tester uses a differential-pressure test kit to evaluate the assembly.
  3. Record the results.Test readings and pass-or-fail results are documented for the customer.
  4. Report the completed test.Results are submitted to the appropriate water purveyor when reporting is required.

What if an assembly does not pass?

Anchor Point will clearly document the failed result and explain the next step. Because we are a testing-only company, repairs must be completed by an appropriately qualified provider. Anchor Point can return to perform the required retest after the repair.
